Celebrate the Village Movement with Atul Gawande

Published on 1/19/2017

  • When: Monday, Feb 13  1:45-3:30 pm
  • Where: Whidbey Telecom conference room at 1651 Main Street, Freeland (next to Webb's)

Atul Gawande, the renowned author of Being Mortal, will be the keynote speaker for the 15th anniversary celebration of the founding Beacon Hill in Boston, the very first Village and the start of the whole Village Movement. Long an advocate of the Village model of caring for olders, he will talk about the value of community and the opportunities that open up as we grow older. As a special gift to the public, the Village to Village Network has arranged to broadcast his talk by live video exclusively to more than a hundred Villages nationwide. South Whidbey at Home is one of those Villages. In fact, the very first meeting to create SW@Home was inspired by a discussion about Being Mortal at Healing Circles in Langley almost two years ago.

Please join us and thousands of Village members across the country to celebrate the movement that has improved the lives of so many. The event will start with a brief introduction at 1:45pm, followed by the live video stream from 2-3pm. A question and answer period will follow. Coffee and cookies will be provided.

This event is free and
open to the public, so  bring your friends and family.
